Reed Spangler, the senior partner in the firm, assists individuals with planning for their financial and income tax responsibilities as well as for retirement and for wealth transfers. With over thirty years of experience as a CPA, Reed works with business owners to help them with their financial reporting and income tax concerns. He also specializes in individual income and estate planning and taxation and in business taxation and financial reporting. He has worked extensively with financial and service companies, contractors and consulting firms, country clubs and not-for-profit organizations. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California – Santa Barbara. He is an active member of several local community service organizations.

Jane E. Russell

Jane E. Russell, CPA
Jane E. Russell, has been a member of the firm since 1988 and a partner since 2003. She specializes in small business and restaurant accounting. She oversees the small business practice, including compilations and reviews as well as payroll, sales tax, 1099 preparation and other informational filings. Jane holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of AICPA, CSCPA, the American Society of Women Accountants and MENSA. Jane is on the board of Girsh Park Foundation.

William L. Jackson

William L. Jackson, CPA
William L. Jackson, a partner in the firm, has over twenty years of income tax and audit experience.  Bill’s experience with income tax focuses on estate and trusts, including assisting individuals in this complex area with planning.  His auditing concentration is in the area of country clubs.  In addition, Bill works with private foundations, assisting with both audit and exempt organization return compliance.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Willamette University in Oregon and received his Master of Business Administration degree from California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo. He serves currently as CFO of the Ann Jackson Family Foundation and as treasurer of the AYSO Region 180, as a Board member of Santa Maria Fairpark Foundation, and treasurer advisor for the Lucky Clover 4H Club; he has served as treasurer for the Dunn School in Los Olivos and other local nonprofits.

Vanessa M. Garcia

Vanessa M. Garcia, Manager, has been a member of the firm since 2007. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics with Accounting Emphasis from the University of California – Santa Barbara. Her specialties include not-for-profit auditing and taxation, as well as individual and partnership income taxation.  She is the firm’s United Way Representative and currently Board Treasurer for a locally owned Corporation. Vanessa is a member of AICPA and CalCPA.

Howard B. Atkinson, CPA
Howard B. Atkinson has been a CPA since 1973. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1970 from San Fernando Valley State College. He has been working as a CPA in the Santa Barbara area for over 30 years and has been a Tax Supervisor with the firm since September, 2006. Prior to joining MacFarlane, Faletti & Co. LLP, Howard was a partner with a small Santa Barbara CPA firm.

Marilyn D. Parke, is a supervisor, specializing in taxation and not-for-profit accounting. She earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance and a JD degree from Louisiana State University. Marilyn has experience as the controller for a not-for-profit organization and serves as treasurer on the board of directors of Art From Scrap.

Diane M. Ravenscroft has over sixteen years of audit, tax and private accounting experience.  Since earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from University of Washington, she has worked in boutique CPA firms in Santa Barbara, Orange County and the Reno/Tahoe area.  In addition, she served as Controller of a technology-centered start-up company.  She is a licensed CPA in California and Nevada.  As a supervisor with MacFarlane Faletti & Co. LLP, she specializes in taxation for small businesses, not-for-profits, and high net worth individuals.

Travis J. wilson, CPA, CFP
Travis J. Wilson, a manager with the firm, has over fifteen years of public accounting experience providing audit, accounting, and tax services to individuals & families, businesses, and not-for-profit organizations. Travis is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business Economics (Emphasis in Accounting) and Political Science. He became a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 2005 and a Certified Financial PlannerTM professional (CFP®) in 2006. In addition, he has earned designations as a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of CPA’s (CalCPA). Travis is currently serving as President of the UC Santa Barbara Alumni Association, Co-Founder and Treasurer of the Adsum Education Foundation and formerly served on the Board of Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation as Treasurer and as a counselor for Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times. Travis was a member of the 2006-2007 Santa Barbara Foundation Katherine Harvey Fellows, Pacific Coast Business Times 2008 Class of “40 Under 40” and was honored by the Santa Barbara Independent as a “Local Hero” in 2012.

Gail H. Anikouchine

Gail H. Anikouchine, CPa, consultant
Gail H. Anikouchine, a consultant with the firm, has more than twenty years of audit, accounting and income tax experience. Beginning her career at one of the Big Four accounting firms, she soon thereafter joined MacFarlane as a staff accountant and was promoted to partner over ten years ago. Her expertise is primarily in the areas of audits of not-for-profit organizations and business taxation. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California – Berkeley and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of San Francisco. She is an active volunteer in the profession, having served as president of the Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting, the Channel Counties Chapter of the California Society of CPAs, and American Society of Women Accountants – Santa Barbara.  Currently, she sits on the State AP&AS Committee of the California Society of CPAs. She also serves on the Board of Directors of two local not-for-profits.  Gail has spoken several times and authored articles on issues and changes in accounting and auditing for not-for-profits.
